Dr Chevonne Reynolds, Associate Professor at Wits University, studies how birds respond to the way African cities are built, greened and lived in, and what that reveals about the people living alongside them. Her research shows that wealthier neighbourhoods consistently support greater bird diversity than poorer ones, and that residents of affluent areas also have better access to the species people value most.
