Building meaningful partnerships between the corporate and conservation sectors is not always easy, but Subaru Southern Africa continues to demonstrate the value of investing in nature.
What began as a six-month partnership to support BirdLife South Africa’s Flyway and Migrants Project has grown into a renewed year-long collaboration, complete with a newly branded Subaru Crosstrek to support fieldwork across the country.
The Regional Conservation Programme’s Flyway and Migrants Project relies on extensive travel to monitor migratory birds, engage with stakeholders and implement conservation activities at important sites. Subaru Southern Africa’s continued vehicle support plays a vital role in making this work possible, ensuring that our team can safely and reliably reach even the most remote field locations.
To celebrate the renewed partnership, I recently attended a Subaru-hosted 4×4 experience at Bass Lake, putting Subaru’s renowned all-wheel-drive capability to the test. From steep inclines to challenging terrain, the Crosstrek proved more than ready for the demands of conservation fieldwork.
With a newly branded Subaru Crosstrek featuring the European Roller and Shorebird Tracking projects, and another exciting year of partnership ahead, we look forward to many more kilometres in the field as we continue working with Subaru Southern Africa to conserve South Africa’s migratory birds.
